Où va l’argent des pauvres

Abstract

"Even if they have little, the poor have money. This money is a source of fantasies: we imagine it badly spent, badly used, badly allocated. Yet, little thought is given to how they manage it, what happens to it and who it enriches. From the Nutella riots to the APL cut, via Franck Ribéry's golden steak, this essay in French deconstructs our perception of poverty and questions our relationship to consumption: the place of luxury or superfluous in our lives, forced spending, the necessity - or not - of the "little pleasures" we allow ourselves, or the influence of other people's views on our purchases." the editor
